change your emotional state in mere seconds. However, when Spotify was launching, the music market was oversaturated with entrants like Beats and Deezer, thus degrading the meaning and personal value of the art. Coupling that with the fact that people seek products that can anticipate them throughout the day — running, waking up, working — we developed a strategy to guide our design: Make Music Personal Again. In the ‘70s, the Fillmore created posters that simultaneously expressed the performer and venue through design. We found inspiration in this approach and injected new energy and rhythm into the Spotify brand. We established a color palette, graphic elements, typography, photography and treatments, developing a unique language for Spotify to communicate with globally. These are elements of a system which lives on product, communications and environments, including their namesake SXSW House, Sessions and international launches. break through in its inception in 1987. Its founding principles were revolutionary — defying tradition through product innovation that ultimately fueled a cultural shift. We expressed the Air Max of today as more than a shoe, but rather a movement. We built our system around the campaign slogan, “Kiss My Airs,” embodying the bold, unapologetic tone of the Air Max 1 OG. The photo art direction encapsulates the rebellious spirit of the Air Max, and its ability to cater to a range of big, unconventional characters. Launched on Air Max Day 2017, this campaign not only celebrated the origins of Air Max, but also introduced the next addition to the Air family, the then-pending release of the VaporMax. from state regulators. We had to introduce the brand in a sincere manner that would garner support from the community.We leveraged the timing of the Brooklyn Half Marathon and created a campaign and experience that would warmly welcome locals and visitors alike.Taking a widely celebrated logo we decided to add arms, legs and sunglasses to it — to create the Béloman.The campaign is centered around this new mascot running the marathon as any self-respecting New Yorker would — chasing a slice of pizza and casually strolling across the finish line. We included an old-school telephone hotline that people could call to get local Airbnb recommendations, encouraging participation with our tagline “Run into the Best of Brooklyn.”We designed the space in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where a 12-foot Béloman stood for runners to pose with while enjoying music and activities. The custom display typeface consist of three weights and is used throughtout all communications, from retail, to clothing and online. The original weight was created by Triboro in 2011.
